Description
Photoperiod Sensitive • Male Sterile • Aphid Tolerant • Excellent Tonnage • BMR 6
This NEW BMR 6 photoperiod sorghum sudangrass is the leading industry sugarcane aphid tolerant product for a male sterile sorghum sudangrass. It is incredibly leafy with a leaf to stem ratio that surpasses all others on the market. Because Evermore BMR is photoperiod sensitive, it has excellent drought tolerance and allows a harvest window that can be season long. Photoperiod sensitive sorghum sudangrasses have a trait that prevents them from going reproductive until after summertime daylight hours eclipse 12 hours 20 minutes, which is typically late August/early September in central Missouri. With this cutting window being so vast, tonnage when chopped can reach 25-30 tons of wet matter. Evermore BMR has great regrowth. When managed correctly, growers can utilize a traditional multicut or grazing program. BMR traits give Evermore BMR reduced levels of lignin, resulting in higher feed intake and improved weight gains. Evermore BMR can be used for chopping, baleage, greenchop, dry hay (only when used in multicut application), or grazing.
Fertility: We recommend 80-120 units of N in split applications when using a multicut/grazing application or 70-80 units when utilizing a one cut system. For best regrowth, it is best to cut above the terminal node which can vary depending on planting rate. When planted too thick, the terminal node can be very high on the plant. Lower planting rates tend to have a lower terminal node.
Seed Rate: Drill 25-30 lbs/acre or broadcast 30-35 lbs/acre. We do not recommend thicker stands. Because this product can make excessive tonnage, we have found thicker plantings can cause lodging and less leaf matter.
Planting: Late May – July with adequate moisture.
